What is your current role/position?

Staff Development Consultant

What is your community connection to CGCS?

I have had the privilege of working this past year, virtually, with humanities teachers at CGCS.

What are you reading? What are you watching? What are you listening to?

Reading:

Seven Fallen Feathers” by Tanya Talaga is a daunting true account of seven Indigenous high school students who died in the 2000s during their first year of high school in Thunder Bay. Each was from a remote Indigenous community and had come to the city, full of hope, to further their education.  The racism they experienced was dreadful and rampant.  It is a call to action for us all.

Watching:

Although I love movies and am making my way through this year’s Academy Award winners, it is the view from my window of the Fraser River, the families, joggers, and walkers along its walkway, and the bursting of spring that is most inspiring me.

Listening:

Always, “  Alicia Keyes
